What if you woke up one morning, so swollen and achy you couldn’t get out of bed and no doctor could figure out what you had? Welcome to my daughter’s life for ten years. This was the beginning of her chronic Lyme saga. She also wondered, is Lyme disease curable?’

She was confined to the couch and unable to go to school. I would make her breakfast, then take her to many doctors to try and figure out what she had. The thing about this disease is that it’s hard to diagnose and difficult to treat.  Signs of Lyme disease can vary and be confused with other conditions.

Labyrinths have always fascinated me. I love everything that encourages us to move and I’ve found that they help me when I’m coping with grief.

As a child I enjoyed dancing in the sand and leaping in circles by the ocean’s shore. One time, at a mountain retreat center, I walked through a traditional labyrinth, a single circuitous path designed to move one towards the center and back out again. I felt something shift inside me.

This was surely a portrait of my soul and a crucible of change. The labyrinth is a meditation of sorts. It is an essentially a tool one can use to collect and meet themselves with intention.

Natural Stress Relief: A Single Mom’s Odyssey of Hope

Have you noticed there are times when something comes along and alters your life for good? How do you find natural stress relief? What do you do when family life interferes with your inner peace?

I had to stay as centered as possible during the years when I was the on-duty parent and caretaker as a single mom. One of the most helpful natural stress-release practices I did was a Kundalini Yoga meditation. This is my favorite type of yoga because it’s an adventure in consciousness and the technology of awareness. Yoga fosters a relationship with myself and spirit. When I practice Kundalini yoga I feel healthy, energized, and full of hope. Don’t you want to feel this way?
